What is Text-to-Speech?

Text-to-Speech is a type of assistive technology that reads digital text aloud. IL Classroom's Text-to-Speech solution has the ability to read the content for the student and even highlight the text as it is being read aloud for people to see and hear the content at the same time!

For Teachers: Enabling Text-to-Speech for Your Class

Log In: Access your teacher account on Imagine Learning Classroom.
Navigate to Class Settings: Click on your class and navigate to the People tab
Enable/Disable TTS:
1. Find the TTS option and turn it on for an individual or your entire class.
2. Once selected, the changes are saved automatically.
3. You can also disable text-so-speech from this menu.

For Students: Listening to Content Using Text-to-Speech

Open a Lesson:
- Log in to your student account.
- Access the lesson you want to explore.
Locate Text-to-Speech:
- Look for the Text-to-Speech buttons in the top of your lesson player.
Click or Tap the Text-to-Speech Buttons:
- When you’re ready to listen, click or tap the Text-to-Speech button.
- The system will start reading the text aloud.
Follow Along with Highlighting:
- As the content is read aloud, follow along with the text as it is being highlighted!
- You can pause or replay sections as needed.

Note: Talk to your teacher if you don't have this option available. They can enable it for you, if appropriate.
