Pulse Check

The Pulse Check is a lightweight question builder in Live Learn that provides teachers with real-time insights into student understanding. We are empowering teachers with a quick and easy way to gauge what's resonating with their students, allowing for data-driven decisions on the spot.

How does this help teachers?

Create multiple-choice questions or polls in seconds to gather student feedback.
Instantly view a breakdown of student responses.
Identify which students are grasping the material in real-time, enabling informed decisions on grouping or individual scaffolding.

Text-to-speech

IL Classroom’s new text-to-speech feature will significantly improve the learning experience for students that need these accommodations while still providing fine-grained controls for teachers.

Why is this important?

Text-to-speech: Students now have a K-12 text-to-speech solution that will help them in their learning process. This feature allows text in assignments to be read out loud, providing an additional way for students to engage with the educational content.
Highlighting text as it’s read: As the text is being read aloud, the corresponding words are highlighted on the screen. This feature is designed to help students stay focused on the words being read, thus aiding with focus and literacy skills development.
Teacher Controls in Class Settings: Teachers have the ability to control this feature for their entire class. They can turn the text-to-speech feature on or off for all students and even enable it specifically for certain students.

Dashboard Filter Enhancements

Educators now have improved Dashboard filtering options:

Filters sidebar: Dashboard filters are easier to access and utilize with a new filter sidebar on the left side of the report.
Assignment filter: Educators can filter Dashboard to one or more specific assignments and see results broken down by assignment in their Performance and Standards tables.
Downloads: Educators can download filtered data from Dashboard. (The previously existing Download tool moved to Dashboard to enable improved filtering of scores exports).
Additional grade/school filters: Educators can filter Dashboard by multiple grades and schools as needed using the additional grade and school filters in the sidebar.

Live Learn Enhancements

The following enhancements bring much needed features that help Live Learn facilitate the best possible conversation in the classroom.

Student anonymity: Teachers now have the ability to anonymize students in the Live Learn experience. This can help encourage more open and honest feedback from students who might otherwise be reluctant to share.
Teacher presentation mode: Teachers can now drive their Live Learn presentation from a second device. This gives teachers greater flexibility in how they manage and present lessons in their classrooms.
Live Learn Timer: We've incorporated a timer into Live Learn to assist with pacing. This can help ensure that lessons stay on track and that all material is covered in the allotted time.

Avatars and Themes

Students now have the ability to reflect their preferences in their learning experience by choosing an avatar and theme. Students and teachers will see a dismissible banner to choose an avatar and theme. The avatar and theme are present on the classes and assignments pages.

Input scores

Teachers can now input scores for assignments and assessments that were not completed by students in the digital experience. Upon creating the assignment, teachers have the option to “Input scores” which launches the grading experience. These insights will be reflected in Dashboard.

Ability to sort student submissions table

To support spotting trends, teachers can now click the table headings in student submissions of an assignment to sort by:

First name
Last name
Status
Open date
Close date
Overall score
Each item

Saved Lessons

Teachers and administrators can organize saved lessons into folders to easily find saved and customized content. The “All favorites” tab has a list of every lesson saved as well. Personal copies are in their own tab within this folder organization. These copies will always be viewable (until deleted) in their own personal copies section.

Item Analysis

The Item Analysis report provides item-level insights for assignments to provide teachers deeper understanding into student learning. Administrators can use the report to see assignment and item scores across one or more grade levels, schools, and more to help better support their teachers and students. The data also provides teachers with an additional summary of item score distributions so they can easily spot areas of need or challenge for remediation and/or enrichment.

Data Dashboard

The Data Dashboard report can be filtered with a custom calendar to allow teachers and administrators to select dates which align with assessment administration windows. The default date range in Data Dashboard is set to "Last 30 days" to support consistency with Item Analysis.
